How early can I drop my child off at school?

School hours are from 8:10 a.m. until 2:20 p.m. each day. For the safety of your child, we ask that you do not drop him/her off at school before 7:45 a.m.

Does Mountain Meadows Primary School enforce a dress code?

Yes. We believe that good dress and grooming standards will help students to learn better and reach their academic goals. We also recognize that student dress and grooming practices can affect the health, safety, and general welfare of all of our students.Your child will receive the specific dress code guidelines that our governing board has established at the beginning of each school year. Please contact the school administration if you have any questions regarding these standards.

May my child check out library books and bring them home?

Yes. Each child is responsible for the books he/she checks out. A student with an overdue book may not check out additional books until he/she returns the overdue book. If a book is lost or damaged, the parent or student is responsible for paying for the book before the student may borrow another book.

May students ride bikes, skateboards, roller skates, or in-line skates to school?

Students may ride bikes to school, but we will not allow them to ride skateboards, roller skates, or in-line skates. They should lock their bike in the area provided when they get to school, and leave it there until they are ready to leave for the day. Students who choose to ride bikes must follow the school bicycle-safety policy.

May my child take the school bus home with a friend?

If a student would like to ride a bus other than his/her assigned bus, the parent must request prior approval from the school. Bus drivers will not let unscheduled riders board a full bus.

May I visit the school and my child's classroom?

We would love it if you would visit us. We just ask that you report to the office and sign in before going to your child's classroom. For the protection of all of the students, the teacher will not allow you to visit the classroom without office approval.

What should I do if I know my child will be late to school?

If a child is late to school, he/she must report to the office and pick up a tardy slip before going to the classroom. The office will contact the parents of habitually late students with possible student disciplinary action information.

What do I need to do if my child must be absent from school?

Please call the school office the morning a child will be absent. You may also call the night before and use the voice mail (ext 4000) to leave a message.

What is the procedure if my child has an appointment during school hours?

If you need to check your child out of school, please come to the front office and the secretary will call the child to the office. If you are bringing your child to school late (such as from a doctor's appointment), please check them in through the front office.

My child requires medication during school hours. What will you do to be sure he/she gets it?

All medications, whether prescription or over-the-counter, must be held in the health office. No child may keep or take medication on his/her own. The nurse will administer the medication to your child. Only parents or legal guardians will be able to take the medication, in its original container with proper labeling, to the health office.

What are the district immunization requirements?

Arizona Law (ARS - 15 - 342) requires that each child be immunized before enrolling in a public school. All children must submit a history of immunizations and receive certain immunizations in order to continue attending school in the state. Please check with the school's health office if you have questions regarding immunizations.

In what ways will you communicate my child's progress throughout the school year?

We believe that communication among the student, the parent/guardian, the teacher, and the administration is necessary for your child to be successful.

 

  • We have scheduled two parent/teacher conferences during the school year. You are welcome to schedule additional conferences if you would like to.
  • We will invite you to Back-to-School Night within the first few weeks of school. There you will learn specific information regarding classroom expectations and curriculum.
  • Throughout the school year, teachers and administrators will distribute notices and letters to take home. Please check your child?s folder daily and encourage him/her to bring home every form of communication so that you will be informed.
  • You are welcome to meet with the principal. Please schedule appointments with the front office secretary.

What is your policy regarding toys, cd players, Walkmans, Gameboys, and other electronic gadgets?

Please leave all of these things at home. Neither the District nor the school or any of its employees will be responsible for theft or damage to any items. Teachers and administrators will confiscate such items and ask the office to hold them until a parent or guardian can pick them up at the end of the school year.
